About Me

Hello and welcome to my travels

I love to travel. I love the surprise of new vistas, the taste of local treats, and the understandings of new cultures. My favorite part of my travels are the unexpected side trips as I drive down the local roads.

As a teacher, I have a fair amount of vacation time with not a lot of money. I also tend to travel solo, which gives me the freedom to take any turn I want on my trip. I pick the hike over the bus tour, the food truck over the Michelin Star restaurant, the free outdoor concert over the symphony. My travels are low key and local.

I love maps – I have several around my house as artwork. So, when I am planning a trip, while I start with the big ticket items, I quickly move over to Google Maps to see what else might be in the area.

I am currently working on visiting all 50 states, so I’ve become used to people looking at me askance when I tell them where my next trip is taking me. So far, I haven’t had been disappointed with any state I’ve visited. The biggest surprises (for the good) have been the lakes of Idaho and the art along the Gulf Coast. This country is vast, and the terrain, people, and culture is just as varied. It’s been a pleasure to get to know who we are as a country from sea to shining sea. At this point, I have 8 states to go.

To all the adventures yet to be had, cheers!

Mckenzie
