I knew very little Albania before I visited. I mistakenly thought it was directly connected to the other Balkan countries through its shared history and language, but I soon learned that Albania has a unique historical and cultural background. Learning about their struggles, pride, and unity gave me new insight into this beautiful country. In just the last ten years, tourism has more than doubled as people realize what a special place Albania is.
