As someone from the Northeast, I always thought that I would feel out of place in the South. During my recent trip to Alabama, however, I felt welcomed in by the Southerners I met along the way. The friendly nature of its people is one of the elements that makes the South charming. Through these casual conversations – whether it was about local fishing, sports, birding, history, or the arts – added depth to my journey through the Gulf Coast.
